In this introductory short course you’ll learn the power of showing up for a young person. You’ll learn the purpose of a mentor, how to be a consciously competent mentor, and how to bring curiosity so that you can have deeper more meaningful conversations with your mentees.

In this course, you’ll explore what is mentoring and develop an understanding of the stages of mentoring, the importance of trust in creating a developmental relationship, goal setting, youth culture and youth wellbeing.

Delve deeper into the principles of mentoring and build on your skills as an effective mentor. In addition to the five modules from the Fundamentals, participants will develop effective communication skills to mentor, understand the importance of values & boundaries, goal setting with young people and understanding differences. This course requires the participant to complete 5 online modules (Fundamentals of Mentoring) and attend a full-day training session either in person or virtually. You must complete the online modules before attending the full-day training session.

In this course, you’ll develop an awareness of key mental health issues facing young people today. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to recognise the impact that mental illness has on our young people as well as the signs and symptoms of developing mental illness versus witnessing the stages of normal adolescent development.

In this course, you'll learn how mentoring skills can complement your existing skills as a coach. This course will provide insights into effective communication, key issues facing young people today, and the impact this may be having on the team.
