We often talk about the Raise Village and how important it really is. That’s because connection, and coming together for a greater purpose, is the key to addressing many of society’s problems. We are seeing this community spirit in action through our partnership with Telethon 7.
Community participation is linked to:
- Improved mental and physical health
- A greater sense of purpose
- Increased confidence
- Reduced isolation and loneliness
- Skill development and growth
- Positive academic outcomes
Raise connects young people in the critical early teenage years with a professionally trained and trusted mentor to help them navigate the challenging adolescent years.
Telethon 7 join the Raise village
To do this we connect with and rely on ‘the Raise Village’; and the newest member of ‘the Village’ is Telethon 7.
Telethon 7 has been operating for over 50 years based on the notion that connection is powerful and that togetherness can make a difference. In that time, community connection and banding together has helped Telethon 7 raise over $770 million, with over $90 million raised this year alone.
In fact, Telethon 7 is the biggest and most impactful live TV fundraising event on the planet and demonstrates that the ‘magic of doing something incredible together’ is inspiring. Nearly a quarter of a million viewers tuned in to be part of the joy of generosity and community spirit.
Raise is thrilled to be a beneficiary of this community spirit in action - with two Raise programs in WA partly funded by Telethon 7.
2025 Telethon 7 Family Fun Festival
Raise were also fortunate to participate in the 2025 Telethon 7 Family Festival event in Perth where we got to do what we do best – connect with community to make a difference in the lives of the young people who need it most.
Meaningful conversations were had with potential mentors, and information provided to young people who may be struggling in silence. Our wonderful Program Manager Rebecca was on hand to spread the word about the power of Raise youth mentoring and a group of our kind hearted volunteer mentors went ‘above and beyond’ to speak with families who need support.
Together with some of the 80,000 WA community members who attended the event, a gratitude mural was produced and further connections were made.
An absolute highlight of the day was meeting a past mentee who told us about her transformative experience as a young person going through the program. Hearing about her experience and receiving her gratitude was humbling.
We thank Telethon 7 and everyone who helps us make a difference. We wouldn’t be a Village without you.
